About brand
Comet was founded in the German city of Bremerhaven in the 1930s, by Friedrich Wilhelm Sander who was a weapons engineer. The creation of the brand was the beginning of the company manufacturing line throwers and rockets for the marine industry – by 1960, Comet was a well-known and respected global pyrotechnic company.

SOLAS requires one of these markers to be mounted on each bridge wing attached to a 4kg lifebuoy. Mounted in its steel bracket on each bridge wing attached to a lifebuoy. Signal can be mounted up to 56m above sea level. (SOLAS only requires>30m). Produces dense orange smoke for 15 minutes and 2 LED lights burn at 2 candela for 2 hours minimum. Signals location of a man overboard by day or night.

The lightweight, Pains Wessex Compact Distress Signal pack contains 3 red aerial flare cartridges and a penjector firing mechanism, all enclosed in a tough, water-resistant case. The penjector is fitted with a stainless-steel spring and striker pin. It features a slot for easy loading and unloading of the flare cartridges. These are stored inside the casing on an elastic lanyard to avoid them being lost when the base cap is unscrewed.
